A WORD FROM THE PRESIDENT

Greetings Dana Wharf Lady Anglers! I’m super excited that we have kicked off our fishing season and look forward to hearing the fish stories and making new memories! A recent topic that came up, was the use of electric reels. I believe the consensus was that if you own an electric reel and would like to use it, by all means, please feel free to do so. However, please know that if you are using an electric reel, you will not be allowed to claim points, qualify for species, trophies or jackpots. As we grow and evolve as a club, there will be topics to address. I bet the use of 2 speed reels were a big discussion back in the day! As always, if there are comments, questions, concerns or suggestions for the club, please send them to me!

COMING EVENTS
Thursday, May 23, at 4pm is our casting event it will be on the Clemente. This is a highly instructional fun event the club puts on once a year. We try to schedule it before the fishing season really gets under way, to knock off the rust & get us back into casting motion. It’s free, and highly recommended for everyone…not just those who are beginners to fishing but also for those seasoned anglers who want to improve their technique.
This event takes about 1-1.5 hours & pizza will be provided by the club and drinks will be for
sale on the boat. Dana Wharf Sportfishing has generously provided the boat & crew for this event.
We need to have at least 10 members to participate, or we will have to cancel. So let’s get
out there & sign up and show support for YOUR club.
RSVP to Bekki asap as we need to get a head count. Thank you to those who have already
signed up.

and equipment. This is a free event that is invaluable to the all fisherman. The Yacht club is hosting this and there will be free pizza and the bar will be open if you would like to buy a drink.
If you are interested in going text Betsy Bowes at 949-599-5544 you must RSVP for a headcount.
SUMMER 2024 TOURNAMENT
Because of the hard work to put the tournament together we are asking any members who have not sign-up for this trip (and have met the requirement of two ¾ or overnight trips or one multi day) you must contact either Susan Villotti or Mary Ellen Hofmann no later than Monday June 3rd. If you know you cannot make the tournament please contact us by the same date, as teams and prizes have to be assembled before the tournament. Reach Susan Villotti at 714-742-6619 or email s.villotti@gmail.com or Mary Ellen Hofmann at 650-766-8113 or mehofmann7@gmail.com.
SUMMER 2024 - CHARTERS
Sign-ups have been slow this year and we have openings on most charters. We have several men who would like to hop on our trips so if our members have not contacted me on future trips we are adding them to the manifests as of June 15, 2024. If you are reconsidering some of the trips this year now would be a good time to look at your schedule, then give me a call if you wish to either sign up or wait list for one of the remaining charters by June 15th. Also contact me Susan Villotti (714-742-6619 or s.villotti@gmail.com) directly to be added to any of the manifest lists.
If you have signed up and feel you cannot make a charter, please let me know as soon as possible. Text or call me at 714-742-6619 or email s.villotti@gmail.com and I will give you names to contact. ALSO, Please pay for your charter as soon as possible so our Treasurer can account for the trip. We pay for the trips in advance.
If you don’t have the funds in before two weeks the club has a shortfall.
Susan Villotti and Mary Ellen Hofmann
NEWS FROM THE TREASURER
So far this year we are doing good financially, our first two trips were full and Susan is working extremely hard on filling the rest of the trips. After the banquet we were able to make a few donations of $400.00 each they were Fish for Life, CCA Cal and Mission Fish, all GREAT charities!!
A gentle reminder please do not pay me, SANDY, for the club payments as we have a phone just for that purpose # 949-545-4594… and if you prefer you can mail…

A NOTE FROM JENI BLUE

Great job ladies! Our first two trips were very successful with a lot of points being turned in. Keep up the good work and remember the new rule if you fish with an electric reel you can only use it on rock trips and you cannot count any points.
HAPPY, FUN FISHING,
JENI
